The Crypton company offers for implementation the Crypton Addressable Conditional Access System (CAS) for digital TV. The system is registered by the world consortium DVB Project and has ID 0x4347. Scrambling complies with ETR-289 (DVB Simulcrypt). Can be used for any signal delivery method.
To encode the programs specified in the input stream, an irreversible algorithm is used, which is protected for each program by an original dynamic key, which in practice makes it impossible for unauthorized viewing of television programs transmitted in the stream. Key and subscriber data are protected by highly efficient encryption algorithms, including both standard and proprietary ones.
The Subscriber Service supports 16 million randomly addressable CAM / CI modules. Conditional access modules are implemented on the latest generation SMART card, which allows you to change the system version quickly and without replacing the receiver and encoding equipment.

- Scramblers. Usually there are several of them on one head-end station, depending on the number of broadcast programs. The scrambler modifies (scrambling) the streaming video using the CSA — Common Scrambling Algorithm protocol using the original secret keys. As a result, unauthorized viewing of programs is excluded. Crypton produces scramblers with different input interfaces, different number of channels, integrated in one package with different modulators.
- Crypton CAS server. In accordance with the ideology of Simulcrypt, one CAS Server manages the operation of all scramblers. Having information about subscribers and their status of subscriptions to view channels, it supplies scramblers with service information.
- Billing system — is a system of accounting for subscribers and payments. Typically, TV operators use their own accounting system with convenient payment options. The CAS server has a built-in subscriber management system, but also provides for interaction with an external billing system.
Subscriber equipment
To watch programs, a subscriber must purchase a Crypton SMART card or a Crypton CAM module from a TV operator. The card is inserted into a receiver &mdash cable, satellite or terrestrial receiver. The CAM module is inserted into the CI interface (Common Interface) of a TV or receiver. CAM Crypton fits all known TVs and receivers with CI.
Since it is impossible to ensure compatibility between the card and all receivers, the receiver should only be taken from the TV operator who will ensure compatibility. Crypton takes an open position in relation to embedding CAS Crypton in subscriber equipment — almost all receiver manufacturers have experience with Crypton and can supply a batch of receivers.
